Earlier in the morning when I opened my WhatsApp I saw that "To use our services, you consent to manually or automatically download and install updates to our services." And details the safety as well as security policies and how your usage is analyzed with data being used to supposedly improve the app. It will apply to all WhatsApp versions whether Android version iOS, desktop.

2. Location Related Update

Whatsapp says that it collects user's information that we provide them (basically the phone number). Officials made a statement that "Once your message is delivered, they are deleted from our servers."In some cases, if the message is undelivered then it will be stored in servers for 30 days in encrypted form. It also makes clear that they access our location at all times. For starters, the customary pleasantries greet you in the location information section of the updated privacy policy. They say that you give access to a location when you share it with others. But there is a catch here even a user doesn't use the location-related feature, they say we use IP address and other info like phone number area codes to estimate your general location. We also use it for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes.

3. Whatsapp Business and Facebook Company Products:

For Businesses on Whatsapp, there is major news that it can share your details with third parties service vendors. But WhatsApp makes it clear today in their privacy policy that “We may use the information we receive from them, and they may use the information we share with them, to help operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support, and market our Services and their offerings, including the Facebook Company Products,” Some utilities for this data sharing are to improve user experience and analyze user that how he uses the platform to promote data safely and securely. It also means your data will be used to show targeted ads and your usage trends on a variety of platforms. The WhatsApp updated terms say this is for “improving their services and your experiences using them, such as making suggestions for you (for example, of friends or group connections, or interesting content), personalising features and content, helping you complete purchases and transactions, and showing relevant offers and ads across the Facebook Company Products.”

If you are wondering what Facebook Company Products means, I’ll let Facebook explain it anyway—" Facebook Products include Facebook (including the Facebook mobile app and in-app browser), Messenger, Instagram (including apps such as Boomerang), Portal-branded devices, Oculus Products (when using a Facebook account), Facebook Shops, Spark AR Studio, Audience Network, NPE Team apps and any other features, apps, technologies, software, products or services offered by Facebook Inc.”

Conclusion

In the end, it just says that "continued use of our Services confirms your acceptance." This didn't throw any shocking news. It just clarifies all that what is happening with your data. Do make sure that you accept the policies because if you don't accept them then your WhatsApp will not work from 8th February 2001. If you like my blog then do comment on your opinions.
